How Most Co-ops Start (It’s Really Simple)

It begins with a single conversation

Most people think starting something big needs money, contacts, or a business plan.

But most movements don’t begin like that.

They begin with two neighbours having a chat. A casual one. Over a cup of tea.

Discuss some solutions

It starts with noticing a problem you both face.

Maybe the rising cost of living, empty shops on your high street, or local services that aren’t working.

And then asking, “What could we do about it, together?” Not to complain. But to imagine.

It's doesn't have to be complicated

This is how every co-op begins.

Not with a pitch deck, but with trust, clarity, and curiosity.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need to listen, talk, and see who else is open to doing something about it.

If it feels like something’s bubbling

But don’t rush it. All you need today is the conversation.

Action Step:

Think of who you could you invite for that first cup of tea.
